IPL 2017 Match Summary and Final Match Results - Winners -Live Streaming (21/5/2017): Mumbai Indians (MI) Vs Pune (RPS) IPL 2017 Final Match Prediction Winners and Results. {IPL 2017 Final Match Result, MI vs RPS, }
Mumbai has had an amazing season this year. They lost a total of only four games in the entire league stage, and have finished as the top ranked team in the league. Surprisingly though, they had started their campaign with a loss against Pune. But after that game, Mumbai was able to find the right combination and went on to win six matches in a row, defeating Kolkata, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Gujarat, Punjab and Delhi in the process.(MI vs RPS)

But this winning run came to a halt when Mumbai have faced with Pune again. They could not overcome Pune in their second meeting of the season either and suffered only their second loss. But after this game, Mumbai went on to win their next three games against Gujarat, Bangalore, and Delhi. After qualifying for the playoffs, however, they got a little complacent, and as a result suffered losses in their next two matches against Hyderabad and Punjab.

Rising Pune Supergiant has had an exceptional turnaround in the tournament. At one time, they had played eight games and with wins in half of those, were in a tricky spot; but then they strung together a fantastic four-game winning streak, and were able to make the playoffs with a win against Punjab in their last league game.

Pune had started their campaign with an emphatic win over Mumbai Indians. However, they fizzled after that and couldn’t translate the opening success into wins in the matches thereafter. They lost three matches in a row, against Punjab, Delhi, and Gujarat, and kept making changes to the side in a bid to find the perfect winning combination, but failed to do so.

Then against Bangalore, they finally found the right combination and were able to get a much-required win. Then in the next match against Hyderabad, MS Dhoni took Pune home in a nail biter. Pune completed a hat-trick of wins in their next game against Mumbai, holding their nerves to win a close contest. With three wins in a row, Pune looked like gaining some momentum, but without the services of Ben Stokes, they could not overcome a clinical Kolkata, getting defeated in a convincing manner.

MS Dhoni is no longer leading the team and the management has opted for Australian skipper Steven Smith to do the job. The particular decision has drawn a lot of criticisms from the local media and fans but the team management thinks this is the right way forward for the franchise.

The RPS group, who is the owner of this Pune team are desperate for a good result from their team in this season and they had made their intentions quite clear during the auction, earlier this year. Pune let go of Kevin Pietersen, Ishant Sharma, Irfan Pathan, Thisara Perera, RP Singh, Peter Handscomb, Saurabh Tiwary and Albie Morkel and bought the auction’s most high profile player, Ben Stokes, for 14.5 crores. They spent 80 percent of their budget for the English all-rounder.

Mumbai, on the other hand, went about their business in a completely opposite way. The Rohit Sharma-led team failed to make the playoff stage last year, but despite that, they kept faith in their core group and retained 20 players — most by any team ahead of the IPL 2017 auction. Mumbai Indians team management believe, their current set of players are good enough to deliver the goods.

Rising Pune Supergiants Strengths: With the likes of Steven Smith, MS Dhoni, Ajinkya Rahane, Faf du Plessis, Ben Stokes around in the line-up, batting is clearly the strength of RPS. In fact, currently, RPS is looking to be one of the strongest batting line-ups in this IPL along with the Royal Challengers Bangalore.

Meanwhile, with Dhoni no longer having the burden of captaincy, we can expect him to bat up the order, preferably at number 4 or 5. This will allow him to spend some more time at the crease. He can also play more freely. So, don’t be surprised if you see Dhoni coming out and attacking the bowlers right from the start of his innings.

As the 10th edition of IPL 10 has reached the playoffs stage, we are all set for the all-important Qualifier 1 between the top 2 two teams Mumbai Indians and Rising Pune Supergiant. Both have played some tremendous cricket in the group stage with Mumbai Indians being the standout team so far. It will be played at the Wankhede Stadium and despite Pune beating them twice in the group stage, Mumbai will start as outright favorites for tomorrow’s clash.

They ended their group stage campaign on a high with a hard fought victory against the Kolkata Knight Riders before losing a couple in a row. Despite the twin losses during the later stages, Mumbai finished with 20 points two ahead of the 2nd placed Pune. They won’t be getting the services of Jos Buttler and Lendl Simmons will continue to open the innings with Parthiv Patel.

They made as many as 5 changes in their previous encounter but will go with their full strength tomorrow. The Pandya brothers have been the standout performers and will look to continue their prowess in the tournament. Their bowling department also looks settled with Lasith Malinga and Jasprit Bumrah spearheading the attack with Mitchell McCleneghan. The spin department boasts of Harbhajan Singh and Krunal Pandya who has been in pretty accurate so far in the tourney.

Along with him, skipper Smith’s recent batting form is also going be an x-factor for RPS. He will most probably bat at number 3 and take care of the middle order, along with the likes of Rahane and Manoj Tiwary. Down the order, the big hitting Stokes also can be a key strength for RPS.

Rising Pune Supergiants Weaknesses: Bowling seems to be the major weakness of this team. After their two key players – Ravichandran Ashwin and Mitchell Marsh were ruled out of this year’s IPL, the bowling plans of RPS is definitely going to be hampered. Ashwin’s absence especially will hurt them the most. On the slow, low conditions of Pune, the off-spinner could have been quite handy.

However, on this absence, the likes of Imran Tahir, Adam Zampa, and Stokes will mostly take care of the bowling duties for RPS. Others like Rajat Bhatia, Ankit Sharma, Jaydev Unadkat and Ashoke Dinda will play the supporting roles.

Three out of four highest scores for Rahane in this IPL has come against MI:
60 v MI, Pune
56 v MI, Wankhede
46 v KKR, Pune
38 v MI, Mumbai

Most sixes in an innings for MSD in an IPL game:
6 v RCB, Bengaluru, 2011
5 v MI, Kolkata, 2013
5 v KXIP, Vizag, 2016
5 v MI, today

Most balls to fifty in IPL 2017:
45 M TIWARY, today
45 Warner v KXIP, Hyderabad
43 Kohli v GL, Rajkot
42 S Tiwary v KKR, Kolkata
42 Kohli v RPS, Pune

Mumbai Indians Strength: A settled line-up Mumbai Indians strength. This core group has been around for quite a few years now and everyone in the team is aware of their responsibilities.

Their skipper Rohit Sharma regaining his full fitness ahead of the start of the event is a big sigh of relief for this team. He is their main batsman, along with Lendl Simmons, Jos Butler, Ambati Rayudu and wicketkeeper-batsman Parthiv Patel.

In the bowling department, the combination of Lasith Malinga, Mitchell Johnson, Tim Southee, Jasprit Bumrah and Hardik Pandya make for a good pace attack. Harbhajan Singh is their lead spinner and the likes of Shreyas Gopal, Karn Sharma, J Suchith and Kunal Pandya can be partner him occasionally.

Mumbai Indians Weakness: Last year they tried out five different opening combinations throughout the tournament. In fact, getting a settled opening pair has always been Mumbai’s problem. This year, either Parthiv Patel or Lendl Simmons is expected to partner Rohit at the top.

Lasith Malinga’s absence in the first few matches can affect Mumbai Indian’s game plans in the initial matches of the tournament. However, either Tim Southee or Mitchell Johnson can chip in for him. England’s Jos Butler will not be available after May 14 so replacing him that too at the business half of the event might be an issue as well.
